VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Forty-four Winston-Salem State University student-athletes were named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference 2009 Commissioner's All-Academic team, Friday afternoon. The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced the 2009 Commissioner's All-Academic team, recognizing 593 student-athletes from the conference's 12 member institutions who achieved academic success during the 2008-09 academic school year. The team honors student-athletes, including sophomore to seniors, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

WSSU's 44 student-athletes marked an improvement over last year's total and saw the Rams and Lady Rams recorded the eighth most student-athletes conference, three spots better that last spring.

This spring, 23 Lady Rams and 21 Rams posted 3.0 or better cumulative grade-point averages, including sophomore Ram tennis player Maximilian Glodde, who earned the WSSU Chancellor's Cup with a 4.0 grade-point average earlier this year.
