Personal: Anthony Hill is the sports editor for The Chronicle, Winston-Salem's award-winning, weekly community newspaper, and has over eight years of sportswriting experience. Hill also is a recipient of numerous journalism awards, including two North Carolina Press Association journalism awards (2003, 2004) and a National Newspapers Publisher Association (NNPA) award for best weekly sports section in 2004. Hill came to Winston-Salem on December 20, 2002, after spending four and a half years working for two daily newspapers in Alabama (The Anniston Star and Gadsden Times.) The Gadsden Times is one of three New York Times-owned newspapers in Alabama. Hill still corresponds for The Anniston Star, on a freelance basis, from time to time. Hill, a native of Tallahassee, FL, is a 2000 graduate of the University of Alabama, where he was also a member of the Crimson Tide football team. Hill also spent time at Jacksonville State University, in Jacksonville, AL. Hill received a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication/Print Journalism.
