Personal:Eddie Sauls was a four-year letterman in football during his playing days at Winston-Salem State University. A native of Goldsboro, NC he was a four-year starter from 1980-84, and served as captain of the Rams football team in both his junior and senior seasons. He was the 1983 CIAA Defensive Player of the Year and an All-CIAA performer. In addition, he was NAIA District 26 honorable mention All-America, Atlanta Daily World All-Defensive Team (100% Wrong Club), the Anthony Oats Memorial Award for Outstanding Linebackers award recipient (1983), and the Chevrolet -ABC TV Most Valuable Player versus North Carolina Central University (1982). He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. He went on to receive a Master Degree in Public Administration from Iowa State University.
