November 23, 2015Rams Earn #8 Seed and Will Take On #1 Wheeling Jesuit to Open 2015 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region TournamentINDIANAPOLIS, IN – After winning the 2015 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Championship, the Winston-Salem State University Rams (22-7) will look for more in the post-season when the team takes part in the 2015 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Tournament. The Rams will enter the tournament as the eighth-seed and will take on the top-seeded host Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals (33-4) on December 3rd.
November 22, 2015Rams Top Shaw in Four Sets to Win 2015 CIAA Volleyball ChampionshipFAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Rams (22-7) claimed their first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Championship when they took a four-set win over the Shaw Bears (21-11). With the win, the Rams earned the first CIAA Volleyball Championship for Winston-Salem State in program history dating back to 1978.
November 23, 2015FORMER WSSU RAM WRESTLER INDUCTED INTO AAU STRENGTH SPORTS HALL OF FAMEWINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – On September 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Amateur Athletic Union Strength Sports inducted 18 athletes into the Strength Sports Hall of Fame, representing Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting and strongman. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place during the 2015 AAU Strength Sports World Championships weekend at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas.
November 22, 2015Rams Defense Clamps Down for 58-43 Win Over Washington AdventistELIZABETH CITY, NC – The Winston-Salem State University (2-3) used a stellar defensive effort to take a 58-43 win over the Washington Adventist Shock (4-2), Sunday afternoon. Playing in their fifth game in the last seven days, the Rams showed that they had enough left for a great defensive effort when they held their opponents to just 43 points and shooting just 23.5% from the floor.
November 21, 2015Rams Advance to CIAA Volleyball Championship Match with Four-Set Win Over Virginia StateFAYETTEVILLE, NC- The storybook season continues for the Winston-Salem State University Rams (21-7) when the team advanced to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Championship match with a four-set win over the Virginia State Trojans (19-9) in the semifinal round, Saturday afternoon. After taking wins in the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-19, the Rams took a 25-27 fourth set loss to the Trojans before sealing the win with a 25-14 fourth set victory.
