WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The “Powerhouse of Red and White” will host its spring tryouts on March 26, 27th, and 28th at the C.E. Gaines Center on the campus of Winston-Salem State University. SU’s powerhouse is ready to kick off another exciting season as the coaching staff prepares to select the best of the best for their Red, White, and Competition squads.
If you are a current full-time WSSU student or a graduating high school senior that has been accepted to the university, this is your chance to come show your talent and possibly become part of the “Code of Excellence”! Candidates should understand that WSSU Cheerleading is one of the most visible groups on campus; therefore, personality and physical fitness are a must! Those chosen for the WSSU Red team will perform at WSSU football games and men’s basketball games. White team performs at WSSU women’s basketball games and select volleyball matches. Both squads assist with and perform at numerous campus and city wide events. Proposed candidates should have flexible schedules and be dedicated individuals.
Interested parties will also have an early chance to show their abilities at “Open Gym” on March 23-25th between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. At “Open Gym” potential candidates will have a chance to show their skills to the WSSU coaching staff prior to the tryouts.
