WSSU Red Team (Varsity) Cheerleaders To Hold Open Tryouts - WINSTON-SALEM STATE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

Winston-Salem, NC - Winston-Salem State University Cheerleading Advisor Lori Dobbins announced on Tuesday that the Varsity Cheerleaders will be holding open tryouts for the upcoming 2007-08 season from March 26-29, 2007 at 5:30 PM at the C.E. Gaines Center.

The tryouts, which are open to any full-time WSSU student, will determine the WSSU Varsity cheerleading squad that will perform for the 2007 football season and the 2007-08 men's basketball season.

Criteria for tryouts are as follows:

Student must posses a 2.3 grade point average or better
Completed cheer packet (release forms)
Possess the ability to travel (football and basketball season)
A completed, current, physical
Student must be physically active
Student must have a positive attitude
Possess school spirit
Prior dance or cheer experience is a plus (but not required)
Cheer, Dance, Tumbling and Stunting is a plus (but not required)
Ability to participate in community service activities, competitions and other events

Anyone who is interested in trying out for the varsity team needs to stop by Office Suite 110 in the C.E. Gaines Center to receive a cheerleading packet. All forms in the packet need to be completed, and each candidate needs to have a complete physical by March 9, 2007.
