Winston-Salem, NC - Winston-Salem State University Cheerleading Advisor Lori Dobbins announced on Thursday that the Varsity Cheerleaders will be holding open tryouts for the upcoming 2006-07 season from April 17-19, 2006 at 5:30 PM and April 21, 2006 at 6:00 pm at the C.E. Gaines Center.

The tryouts, which are open to any full-time WSSU student, will determine the WSSU Varsity cheerleading squad that will perform for the 2006-07 football season.

Criteria for tryouts are as follows:

Student must posses a 2.3 grade point average or better

Student must be physically active

Student must have a positive attitude

Prior dance or cheer experience is a plus (but not required)

Tumbling is a plus (but not required)
