WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Winston-Salem State University Cheerleading Advisor Lori Dobbins announced the 2006 WSSU Varsity Cheerleading squad on Tuesday as the 19-member team has been filled for the upcoming football season.  Team members were chosen after an intense five-day tryout period that concluded at the end of April.

The 19-member squad will return to campus in mid-August for preseason conditioning and training camp as they prepare to open the 2006 football season August 26, 2006 in Salisbury, NC versus Catawba College.

The 2006-07 varsity cheerleaders are as follows:

The 2006-07Junior Varsity squad will be selected after fall tryouts which will be held August 29, 30, 31 and Sept. 1 at 5:30pm. (C.E. Gaines Center Gym). 

• Requirements are as follows:
• Student must posses a 2.3 grade point average or better
• Student must be physically active
• Student must have a positive attitude
• Prior dance or cheer experience is a plus (but not required)
• Tumbling is a plus (but not required)
