2011 • SOPHOMORE SEASON: German’s ability to play multiple positions gave the Rams versatility in the infield and outfield in 2011. Reyes was a steady bat in the Rams line-up as he hit .276 with 20 RBI’s, 4 triples and 3 HR. In the 2011 CIAA conference tournament, Reyes’s bat caught fire as he recorded an all-time ram’s baseball record of 3 triples in one game in the conference semi-final against Chowan on 4/22/11. German’s speed and superb base running ability also contributed to the Ram’s offense as he swiped 9 bases and scored 29 runs. Reyes will give the Rams depth this year at SS and 3B, but will likely spend most of his time in the outfield. 2011 HIGHLIGHTS: was 3-4 with a HR and a 2B against Armstrong Atlantic State on 2/6/11…..was 1-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored in a 13-6 win over St. Andrews on 2/13/11…..had first multi-HR game vs. St. Pauls on 2/26/11…..was 1-3 with a sacrifice and an RBI vs. Brevard on 3/8/11…..was 2-3 with a BB and SB against Greensboro College on 3/20/11…..was 3-4 with 3 RBI in a 12-10 win over Virginia State on 4/3/11 (game 1)…..was 2-3 with a run scored and a SB in a 5-1 win over Virginia State on 4/3/11 (game 2)…..was 1-3 with a SB in a 2-0 win vs. Virginia State on 4/10/11….. was 1-4 with a scored against St. Augustines in the first round of the CIAA tournament on 4/21/11…..was 2-5 with a 2B, 3 RBIs and a run scored in a 15-6 win over Virginia State in the CIAA tournament on 4/21/11…..was 4-6 with 3 triples and 3 runs scored in an 18-12 win over Chowan in the CIAA tournament on 4/22/11….was 3-5 with an RBI in the Ram’s first ever NCAA DII regional appearance vs. Concord University on 5/21/11…..

PERSONAL: Business Administration major…..born 6/5/1988….. parents are Domingo and Elena Reyes…..most memorable sports moment was signing as an international free agent with Red Sox in 2007 and playing in Fenway Park as part of their instructional league…..goal after college is to get his MBA and have the opportunity to play or work in the world of professional baseball…...lists the good work ethic and the great relationship among the players as his favorite things about WSSU baseball……
COACH RITSCHE ON REYES: “Reyes has the showmanship of a professional baseball player. He definitely looks the part and has some above average tools. Consistency is going to key for German at the plate and on defense this spring. If he can put it all together he can have one incredible year for us. I brought him in as a SS in 2011 but needed him in the OF at the end of the season due to shortages. He immediately transitioned and will most likely stay in the OF this year but we will use in in the INF in certain situations. He’s an A student, hard worker and respectful kid that is a pleasure to have on my team.”
