PERSONAL: History major……..born on 5/1/91……..son of Tim and Sara Markley……..life goal after baseball is to be a teacher and coach baseball……..His most memorable sports moment is earning a save in game 1 of the CIAA conference tournament and winning the second conference championship game right after to help the Rams claim the CIAA conference title and a berth to the NCAA Atlantic Regional……..favorite thing about the WSSU baseball program is it’s team unity and sense of belonging.
COACH RITSCHE ON MARKLEY: John is always going to compete out on the mound. In 2012 he was a true team player and changed his delivery to “submarine” so that we could have a situational pitcher late in games when needed. He gave us quality innings out of the bullpen last year and will do the same this season in late game situations. As a team captain this season, John will help lead a young pitching staff as we attempt to reach our team goal of winning a regional championship.”
