WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Winston-Salem State University pounded out 17 hits en route to scoring 16 runs as the Rams belted the Lincoln (Pa) Tigers 16-4 in game one of the weekend series played at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem.
Aaron Jones went 3 for 3 with 2 rbi and one run scored, and Conner Andrus also went 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 3 rbi's. Rafael Gonzalez was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and four runs batted in. Paco Martin finished 1 for 5 with one run scored and 3 rbi's, while Christopher Kane had 2 rbi's, going 1 for 2 with a run scored. German Reyes scored 3 runs and had an rbi, and Brandon Harrison had an rbi and one run scored in the contest. Christopher Kane, Rafael Gonzalez and German Reyes all had home runs for WSSU. Brandon Harrison, Aaron Jones and Conner Andrus each had a double.
Jordan Carlton pitched 5. Innings, surrendering four hits and four runs (three earned), while walking two batters and striking out a season high 8 hitters.
The win moves the WSSU Rams to 18-6 overall, 4-0 in the CIAA.
