CARY, NC -- The Winston-Salem State University had three different players finish with three runs batted in each, as the Rams roiled over the St. Augustine's Falcons 15-4 today in Cary, NC.
Today's game was a makeup of a rain out that had been postponed twice, from last weekend due to inclement weather.
The win moves the Rams to 31-8 overall and 14-1 in the CIAA, while the SAU Falcons fall to 25-16 overall, 12-3 in the CIAA.
Winston-Salem State scored twice in the third, fourth and fifth innings, and broke it wide open with a eight run seventh inning.
WSSU was led at the plate by Brandon Harrison who went four for five with two runs scored and two runs batted in, while Levi Grassley finished three for five with three runs scored and three rbi's. German Reyes went two for four with two runs scored and three runs batted in, and Travis Moore finished two for four with three runs scored and three runs batted in. Tyler Hickernell went one for five with run run scored and two runs batted in. Conner Andrus finished one for five with a rbi, and Rafael Gonzalez finished one for four with two runs scored.
Scott Wells was lights out on the mound for WSSU, as he pitched 7.0 innings giving up just two hits and one runs while striking out three. Nick Boles came on in relief to close out the game going 2.0 innings and allowing three runs on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Aries Polanco went two for four with a run scored and two rbi's, including a home run, and Pat Hall went one for three with a rbi. William Thomas also went one for three. Jamie Scott went one for three with two runs scored and a run batted in.
St. Augustine's Brock Holmes took the loss allowing the Rams 12 runs on 10 hits in 6.1 innings. He was hurt defensively by five Falcon errors.
WSSU travels to Brevard on Tuesday evening for a 6:00 pm for pitch.
