  • Abreu, Norris Named to D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Team

    MILLERSVILLE, PA – The awards just keep rolling in for the Winston-Salem State University baseball program. The duo of senior third base Emilio Abreu and junior centerfielder Randy Norris were honored once again as they earned spots on the 2018 Conference Commissioner’s Association D2CCA All-Atlantic Region team, Thursday. The announcement marked the third time that the duo was honored after the 2018 regular season.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams baseball will welcome a stellar class to carry on its fine tradition. Head coach Kevin Ritsche has announced the 2018 recruiting class, Thursday. By signing twelve newcomers for next fall, the Rams will look to build upon its rich tradition of success on the diamond. This group will help fill the shoes of a talented class of seniors, including Emilio Abreu, Seth Reeves, John Garcia, Landon Biggs and Brandon Ford; who all played major roles on last year’s CIAA Championship team that made it all the way to the NCAA Atlantic Regional Finals.

    DALLAS, TX – The honors just keep coming in for the Winston-Salem State University Rams baseball program as senior third base Emilio Abreu and junior center fielder Randy Norris were both named to the 2018 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) NCAA Division II All-Atlantic Region team. The duo took the honors after some tremendous performances this season. The honors come just two days after both players were named to the 2018 All-ICAA team.

    HANCOCK, MI – Winston-Salem State junior centerfielder Randy Norris was rewarded for a fantastic season when he was named the Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) Player of the Year. He was one of three WSSU players named to the All-ICAA team after another successful season.

    MILLEDGEVILLE, GA –The Winston-Salem State Rams (30-20) ended the regular season on a down note when the team took a 16-0 loss to the #8 Georgia College Bobcats (39-10), Sunday afternoon. The Rams were held scoreless for the first time all season and struggled to get hits in the game.

    MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (30-19) had few problems hitting the ball, but the team struggled to get runs across the plate in a 12-5 road loss to the #8 Georgia College Bobcats (38-10). The Rams took the loss after plating just five runs in the game, but notching 15 hits.
  • Late Rally Not Enough for Rams in 10-6 Loss at #8 Georgia College

    MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (30-18) gave a great effort with a late rally, but the team could not pull out the upset in a 10-6 loss to the #8 Georgia College Bobcats (37-10), Friday afternoon. The Rams gave a valiant effort, even taking a 6-2 late lead, but the team allowed eight runs in the final three innings of the game to take the hard-fought loss.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (29-17) broke out early to claim a 6-1 Senior Day win over the Saint Augustine’s Falcons (11-27), Sunday afternoon. The Rams took the win behind an efficient offensive effort with six runs on seven hits in the game.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC –The Winston-Salem State Rams (30-17) closed out Senior Day in a big way when the team took a 14-8 win over the Saint Augustine’s Falcons (11-28). The Rams benefitted from nine walks at the plate and turned them into 14 runs to close out the home portion of their schedule.

    ETTRICK, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (28-16) used a late rally to secure a 5-4 road win over the Virginia State Trojans (25-15-1), Saturday afternoon. After heading into the seventh and final inning trailing, 4-2, the Rams scored three clutch runs to take the lead and then sealed the victory with some stellar defense.

The Rams took the win behind a great defensive performance, including a tremendous pitching effort from redshirt-freshman pitcher Jalen Scott.

The Rams took the loss behind an overall great game, but the team fell into some struggles in the seventh and ninth innings that cost the team the hard-fought loss.

After falling behind early, the Rams rallied to take the seven-inning game into the eighth inning, but the team could not pull out the win.

The Rams took the win behind a great defensive effort as the team held the Crimson Hawks to just one seventh-inning run to claim their ninth straight win.

The Rams took the win behind a great overall effort, scoring 13 runs in the game, but also needing a defensive effort to hold off a late rally by the Golden Knights to take the win.
