WINSTON-SALEM STATE RAMS RANKED SEVENTH IN ATLANTIC REGION

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- The Winston-Salem State University Rams men's basketball team is ranked seventh in the Atlantic Region in the NCAA's first regional men's basketball poll.  These rankings are used to determine the seeding for the 2012 NCAA Division II Basketball Championships.

West Liberty (WV) sits atop the Atlantic Division with a 21-1 record, 19-1 in the region.  The University of Charleston (WV) is in third with Alderson-Broaddus (WV) coming in fourth.  CIAA members Shaw is ranked second in the regions, while Bowie State is fifth.

The WSSU men's team in is currently 17-6 overall, 9-4 in the CIAA and 3-4 in the Southern Division.  They are currently locked in a four way tie for second place with Johnson C. Smith, St. Augustine's and Fayetteville State.  The Rams are 11-3 in their last 14 games.

Winston-Salem State has three regular season games remaining, and they all are crucial, WSSU will host the Johnson C. Smith University golden Bulls at 7:00 pm on Saturday, and then will travel to the Bears of Shaw University on Monday night, before closing out the regular season on Saturday, February 25th, hosting the Broncos of Fayetteville State University.
