Colon Named Second Team NCCSIA

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Winston-Salem State University's Robert Colon has been named to the N.C. Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State Men's Basketball Second Team in the collegiate division, which consists of NCAA Divisions II, III and NAIA student-athletes from the state of North Carolina.

The All-NCCSIA teams were nominated by sports information professionals across the state and voted on by NCCSIA members. The squads consisted of 10 student-athletes – five on the first team and five on the second team.

Founded in 2002, the NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools.

Colon picks up another honor, as last week, Colon was named to the BOXTOROW HBCU All-American team.

Named the 2016-17 CIAA Rookie of the Year, Robert Colon averaged 17.6 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. Colon also averaged 1.2 assists and 0.8 steals per game. Colon also scored in double figures 21 different times, and led the Rams in scoring on 14 different occasions. He led the team in steal eight times and led WSSU in assists seven times.
