Rams Roll; Defeat Spalding 68-41 on Day One of Bellarmine Tourney

Nov. 21, 2003

Louisville, KY - The Winston-Salem State University Rams keep right on rolling, despite having a depleted roster with two All-CIAA performers sidelined with injuries.

The Rams made an eight-hour bus ride to Louisville, KY on Thursday morning to play on Friday afternoon and earn a 68-41 victory over Spalding University in the first game of the Bellarmine University Tournament.

The Rams went into the game riding a one-game win streak and added to that as every player on the roster would score at least two points en route to a relatively easy victory over a very overmatched Spalding University basketball team.

The Rams were once again led by the combination of Alleggrie Guinn (So./G/6'2"/190/Charlotte, NC) and Audly Wehner (Fr./F/6'6"/215/Fayetteville, NC) who would tally 15 and 12 points respectively.

Guinn turned in not only 15 points (on 7 of 14 shooting) but added three rebounds, two blocks and three steals and did not turn the ball over in 29 minutes of play.

Wehner picked up seven rebounds and three steals in addition to his 12 points, as he failed to turn the ball over even once as well.

Collectively the Rams shot 51.9% from the floor (28 of 54) for the game as they improved to 2-1 overall (0-0 CIAA) and won their second straight contest.

The Rams will advance to the Championship Game of the tournament tomorrow afternoon to face an as-yet-to-be-determined opponent.
