Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team led the Tigers of St. Paul's College by 25 points at halftime of Saturday's CIAA basketball contest and never looked back en route to an 83-56 win at the CE Gaines Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
The Rams would have four players record double-digit scoring and every player on the active Ram roster would record at least three minutes of playing time.
Freshman forward Curtis Hines (Fr./G/6'2"/Charlotte, NC) led the Rams in the win with 15 points as he would miss only one shot from the floor ( 6 of 7) and hit three three-point field goals.
The usually cast of characters would not be the main storyline of Saturday's game as no Ram starter played more than 23 minutes in the contest. The game would belong to the reserves as the WSSU bench tallied 44 total points.
Logging career-high minutes was freshman Adrian Harrison (Fr./F/6'7"/Greensboro, NC) who played 14 effective minutes and scored a career-high nine points. In addition to his scoring he grabbed a pair of rebounds and blocked one shot.
With the win, the Rams improve to 13-4 overall and improve to 4-3 in the CIAA. St. Paul's remains winless and falls to 0-12 overall (0-6 CIAA).
WSSU returns to action tomorrow in the second game of the 2004 Legacy Classic basketball tournament. The Rams will square off against their most fierce CIAA rival, the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University at 5:30 pm in the not-so-friendly confines of the Charlotte Coliseum.
