Final Stats

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Winston-Salem State University Rams basketball team picked up a non-conference win, their 13th victory of the season, over the Tigers of Edward Waters College on the road in Jacksonville, FL on Thursday evening as they defeated EWC 79-67 in a men's basketball contest.

The Rams, fresh off of back-to-back losses to CIAA opponents (Johnson C. Smith University and Fayetteville State University) snapped a two-game skid with an easy win on the road that saw WSSU once again shoot better than 50% from the floor.

WSSU wasted no time as they opened up an early lead over the Tigers and pulled out in front by 18 points at the halftime intermission as they led Edward Waters 42-24 at the break.

The second half saw WSSU head coach Philip Stitt go to his reserves early and often as the Rams held on for the 12-point victory, winning the contest 79-67.

True freshman Jamal Durham, and junior guard Curtis Hines led the Rams with 12 points each in the contest.

Edward Waters was led by Darnell Hobson who tallied a game-high 21 points in the loss.

With the win the Rams improve to 13-7 overall and remain at 6-4 in the CIAA (2-2 CIAA West).

WSSU returns to action on Saturday, February 4, 2006 as they face the Eagles of North Carolina Central University in an important CIAA Western Division contest at McClendon-McDougald Gymnasium in Durham, NC.
