Morgan State 63, WSSU 41 - Post Game Notes

BALTIMORE, MD - The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team fell in defeat to the Morgan State University Bears on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 by the score of 63-41 at Hill Field House in Baltimore, Maryland.

 

  • The loss drops WSSU head coach Bobby Collins' all-time record versus Morgan State to 6-3 overall.

 

  • The loss drops Collins' record in games coached versus MSU head coach Todd Bozeman to 0-2 overall.

 

 

 

  • The loss marks the second straight game, and second consecutive year, that the Rams have fallen in defeat to the Bears in Baltimore, MD.

 

  • Since the Rams' transition to Division I, WSSU has dropped three straight games in the "Charm City".  WSSU has dropped two straight games to Morgan State and dropped last season's contest at Coppin State with all three contests being played in Baltimore, MD.

 

  • The Rams' 13 first-half points marked the lowest single-half scoring output for the Rams.  The season's previous low was 20 points scored in the first half versus Wake Forest on November 23.

 

  • The Rams' first-half shooting percentage of 18.2 percent marked the lowest single-half shooting percentage of the season for the Rams easily surpassing the previous single-half low of 21.9 percent that WSSU shot in the season-opener on Nov. 9 at Iowa State.

 

  • The Rams' 26-point deficit to the Bears on Saturday marked the largest halftime deficit of the season for the Rams.  The Rams' previous season-high halftime deficit was 16 points.

 

  • Darrell Wonge's two first-half field goals accounted for half of WSSU's four made field goals during the first half.

 

  • The loss moves the Rams to 8-13 overall and runs WSSU's winless streak to two consecutive games.

 

  • The Rams fall to 0-8 on the road overall as WSSU has not won on the road since January 27, 2007 when they earned a 56-48 victory over Bethune-Cookman.

 

  • WSSU has lost 13 consecutive games on the road dating back to the 2006-07 season.  The Rams have dropped all eight road contests in 2007-08 and closed the 2006-07 season with five road losses for a total of 13 straight road losses.
