Post Game Quotes (February 14th, 2004) Fayetteville State 76 - Winston-Salem State 70
Senior Vince Sessoms: It looked as though you had them in the second half, what happened? "We didn't box out like we should have, and they hurt us as they out rebounded us pretty badly. You have to hand it to Kenny Haywood, he is an All-CIAA player, but they got the boards and we usually do well on the glass. They had a lot of second chance shots, and we can't do that and win. We have to get ready for the tournament, and that starts on Tuesday when we go to Central [North Carolina Central University]."
Fayetteville State University Head Coach Sam Hanger: You guys are playing for the Western Division regular season title, and they [WSSU] are playing to get ready for the tournament and already know they will be playing on the first day. How dangerous is that, to face a team that already knows where they sit? "You see how dangerous it is. They gave us all that we could handle, and fortunately we came out ahead. I told the guys that they [WSSU] would come in here breathing fire. They are a very good team, and have just hit a rough patch lately. They will be a scary team to face in the tournament, and I wish them the best. We were just good enough tonight to come out with the win."
WSSU Head Coach Philip Stitt: Coach, what are your general thoughts on tonight's game? "Well, we are in the ballgame with 6:15 to go and we just didn't execute...Unfortunately, we are down three, and we got a wide open three for Jay [Jay Maynard] and he missed it...he's not going to make them all...he just missed...it happens...and then a couple of defensive lapses, and they make their free throws down the stretch, and that is the difference."
You didn't shoot a lot of free throws in the second half. The fact that you didn't get to the line hurt you, wouldn't you agree? "Yeah. We didn't get to the line enough I don't think. I'm not entirely sure how many free throws we shot...oh here, let me look...we only shot six free throws the entire second half...we never reached the bonus, and they shot sixteen, and that hurt us for sure."

Now you have North Carolina Central on Tuesday in your last conference game "Yeah, we have to go to Central and try to get a win. That is a real tough place to play, and they are a very good team, and a very big team. We have got to come out ready to play and get some momentum headed into the tournament [2004 CIAA Basketball Tournament]. It would be good to get a win on Tuesday."
