Fayetteville State improves to 15-9 overall; 8-5 in the CIAA; 6-2 in the Western Division and remains atop the CIAA West
Winston-Salem State falls to 15-10 overall; 6-9 in the CIAA; 3-6 in the Western Division and is sitting in fifth place in the CIAA West.
Fayetteville State sweeps the 2003-04 regular-season series and are now 4-8 in their last 12 meetings with the Rams.
The sweep of the Rams marks the first time that the Broncos have swept WSSU since the 1997-98 season.
Fayetteville State has won three straight games and six of their last seven contests.
WSSU has lost six of their last eight games and are on a one-game losing streak.
WSSU's CIAA Rookie of the Year candidate Audly Wehner (Fr./F/6'5"/Fayetteville, NC) left the game midway through the first half after talking a hard elbow to his hip. His status is day to day.

Jay Maynard hit three (3) more three-point field goals to bring his career total to 182 threes made. He currently sits in third place in WSSU history with 182 three-point field goals made and is looking to overtake William Gray who played from 1992-96. Gray is in second place with 185 three-point field goals made. In first place is Larry Patterson (1996-00) who tallied 297 made threes.
The 14 point performance by Vince Sessoms (Sr./F/6'3"/Kinston, NC) marks the highest point total of the season by Sessoms and only the third time that Sessoms has recorded double-digit scoring in 2003-04. The other two times were a 10-point performance versus St. Paul's on January 17th, and an 11-point performance versus Wilberforce on December 16th, 2004.
WSSU committed only 12 turnovers in the game, two below their season average of 14.
WSSU shot very near their season average (46.6%) from the floor in the loss as they hit 25 of 56 field goals for a 44.6% shooting percentage.
As the records sit right now and if the CIAA Tournament were to start tomorrow, WSSU would face Elizabeth City State University in the first round of the 2004 CIAA Championship Tournament at the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC.
