Winston-Salem, NC - Winston-Salem State University junior men's basketball forward player Audly Wehner has been named the Crown Trophy WSSU Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 12, 2006 for his performance on the hardwood over the past seven days as announced by the WSSU Office of Sports Information on Monday.
Wehner, a junior forward from Winston-Salem, NC helped to lead the Rams to a 1-1 record this past week which included a double-digit win over the 23rd-ranked Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University.
Versus the Golden Bulls on Saturday evening in Charlotte, NC, Wehner tallied a game-high 25 points and seven rebounds on a night where he would turn in an eight-for-12 shooting performance from the field, all in only 22 minutes of play. For his efforts he has been named the Crown Trophy WSSU Student Athlete of the Week.
The 14-9 Rams will return to action on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 in a Valentine's Day meeting with the Blue Bears of Livingstone College at the LJVM Coliseum Annex. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
