CIAA Announces Winston-Salem State University to Host 2013 Football Championship Game And Media Day
Hampton - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Football Championship Committee has unanimously selected Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) as the host institution for the 2013 CIAA Football Championship Game, scheduled for Saturday, November 16. The CIAA selected WSSU to host the game at Bowman Gray Stadium following an evaluation process of bids that began in April. Most recently, the Football Championship Game had been hosted at Durham County Memorial Stadium.

FINALISTS NAMED FOR GENE UPSHAW DIVISION II LINEMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD; WSSU's MARKUS LAWRENCE ON NATIONAL BALLOT
Regional voting narrowed a field of 46 candidates to eight finalists for the 2012 Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award. The finalists include seven offensive linemen and one defensive lineman. All eight of this year’s award finalists play for teams that reached the NCAA Division II Playoffs and six are set to play in the quarterfinals this weekend.

2012 Cleveland Classic to Feature Winston-Salem State Rams & Morehouse College Tigers at Browns Stadium
The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission will host the second annual Cleveland Classic HBCU football game presented by McDonald’s on September 15, 2012 where Morehouse College will battle Winston-Salem State University at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The Cleveland Classic is an entire weekend full of dynamic activities and events for all ages while celebrating premier historically black universities. Festivities will include a College Readiness Fair presented by McDonald’s and College Now Greater Cleveland, Greek Step Show, Tailgate Party presented by University Hospitals, KeyBank Marching Band Half-time Show and the Cleveland Classic game presented by McDonald’s.
