In advance of the opening of the new interchange for U.S. 52 and Research Parkway on July 12, we wanted to make you aware of some important travel information.
- When the new interchange opens on July 12, the exit/entrance ramps at Rams Drive will close permanently.
- To enter campus from U.S. 52, drivers will need to take the Research Parkway exit.
- Drivers who access campus using Martin Luther King Jr. Drive will not be affected.
Winston-Salem State University is working closely with the City of Winston-Salem to communicate the changes to various campus visitors. If you are hosting visitors or an event on campus or at Bowman Gray Stadium, you may wish to alert guests of the new interchange by directing them to https://www.wssu.edu/about/news/articles/2017/07/new-u.s.-52-interchange-opening-near-wssu.html to see a map that highlights the new route to campus and the new parking patterns at Bowman Gray Stadium. Please contact Jaime Hunt at email@example.com if you would like a custom communication for your guests.
Additionally, the Rams Drive bridge over U.S. 52 is being replaced as part of the project. U.S. 52 from Interstate 40 to Business 40 will be closed from late on Friday, July 21, through Sunday, July 23, for removal of the bridge. Rams Drive then will be closed to through traffic for construction of a new bridge. The project will be completed by December.
