Monday was a key milestone for those of us counting down the days until WSSU's first game against UNC Pembroke. Even thought we're still a few weeks out, today marked the first day of fall camp, which means players are laced up and fully equipped for football activities.

For the third consecutive season, the Rams of Winston-Salem State University have been selected to win the CIAA Title. The defending CIAA Champion Rams finished 9-3 last season and 7-0 in the CIAA Southern Division.

Winston-Salem State University will return eight starters on both sides of the ball, making the Rams one of the most experienced teams on the gridiron in 2017.

WSSU will return to the practice field at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow at Civitan Park.

When asked if his team was ahead of schedule, Boulware simply stated, "I don't want to get too excited because this is the first day; but we have the makings of a pretty good football team.  We have short term goals to win our next football game, and UNCP is our next game. So we have our work cut out for us."
