Personal: Linwood Ferguson returns to the Rams' coaching staff for his second year in 2004. He is primarily charged with coaching the defensive backs as he will help to bring consistency to a Ram secondary that placed last in passing defense in 2004. Prior to coming to WSSU he was the Offensive Coordinator at North Carolina A&T State University (2002). He is no stranger to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association as his most recent coaching position was as Offensive Coordinator at North Carolina Central University (2003). Prior to his tenures at NCCU and NC A&T State, he was the Head Football Coach at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. While at MSU for two years he led his team to 13 records including the Lone Star Conference Championship in 2001. As well, he led MSU to records for yards in a game (737), points in game (82), touchdowns scored in a game (11), total plays in a game (93), touchdowns scored in a season (60), rushing yards against (-43) and seven others. In his 21 seasons (1973-present) in the coaching ranks he has had the opportunity to coach 2 National Football League first round choices, and over three dozen future professional football players. He has received numerous awards for his accomplishments and has been published in several coaching magazines and journals...He received his bachelor of arts degree from East Carolina University in 1973 and went on to earn his Master of Arts in Education from ECU in 1975. He currently resides in Greensboro, NC with his wife of 23 years, the former Teresa Taylor. The couple have three children, a daughter Heather (26), a son Stan (23), and a son Taylor (17).
