WSSU's Brandon Hussey Signs Free-Agent Deal With NFL's Cincinnati Bengals

May 2, 2006

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Winston-Salem State University wide-receiver/kick-returner Brandon Hussey (Pinetops, NC) became the first member of the Rams' senior class to sign with a National Football League franchise when he signed a free-agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.  Hussey will report to rookie camp May 13-15, 2006 as he attempts to earn a roster spot with the 2005 AFC North Division Champions.

Hussey caught 16 passes for the Rams in 2005 for 163 total yards on a team that ran the ball 80% of the time (462 run plays in 580 total offensive plays).  Despite the limited receptions, Hussey recorded 506 all-purpose yards for the Rams for an average of 50.6 yards per game.

He will be one of a reported 16 free agent acquisitions that the Bengals invite to the rookie mini-camp in mid-May.  The Bengals will release a comprehensive list of free-agent signees Wednesday according to the team's website (www.bengals.com).
