WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Winston-Salem State University defensive end Detron Hart who was injured in the Rams' game versus Florida A&M University last Saturday has suffered a cervical sprain and will be inactive until further notice according to a statement issued by WSSU Head Athletic Trainer, Darrell Turner late Tuesday afternoon.
"While we are still waiting on the release of all of the films from the hospital in Tallahassee, he is doing fine. He will see our spine specialist here, but from all indications, he has suffered a cervical sprain and will be out of action until further notice."
Following a hard tackle late in the first half he was taken to a local hospital in Tallahassee, FL but returned home with the team early Sunday morning.
WSSU head coach Kermit Blount said: "He's still going to have to visit our team doctors, but all the tests at the hospital there in Tallahassee were all negative. So that was a plus."
Hart, a freshman from Miami, has some soreness in his neck and is currently wearing a cervical collar, yet is in good spirits and is anxious to get back to practice.
