Winston-Salem, NC - WSSU Athletic Department officials announced on Monday that linebacker Levern Bynum (Sr./Weldon, NC) was selected as the WSSU Crown Trophy Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 15, 2005 for his impressive athletic performance on Saturday in WSSU's 20-17 loss to North Carolina Central.

Bynum, a senior linebacker from Weldon, NC recorded a team-high nine tackles on Saturday as he tallied five solo tackles and four assists versus North Carolina Central University.  As well, Bynum added a pair of sacks for -12 yards versus the Eagles.

For helping to lead the Rams' defense, and for his continued on-field excellence, he has been selected as the Crown Trophy WSSU Student-Athlete of the Week.
