Rams Return To Radio For Final Three Home Games Of 2009 Season

Oct. 26, 2009

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) Department of Athletics announced on Monday that the Rams' remaining three home football games will be broadcast live on the radio and on the Internet with DW Communications producing the broadcast on Classics Sports Radio Network.

The three games that will be played in Winston-Salem are the Homecoming game on Oct. 31 with Hampton University, Delaware State University on Nov. 7 and North Carolina Central University on Nov. 14.

"We have been fortunate to reach an agreement with Classics Sports Radio Network and DW Communications to produce and broadcast our remaining home football games," said Tonia Walker, WSSU Interim Athletic Director. "While the cost of broadcasting our entire season was prohibitive based on our budget, this arrangement has provided a cost-effective way of making these games available to our fans that are not able to make it to Bowman Gray Stadium."

All three contests will be broadcast live on the radio and will stream live worldwide on the internet. The broadcasts will air on WELS-AM 1010 in Kinston/Goldsboro, N.C. and WXKL-AM 1290 in Sanford, N.C. in addition to being aired live on WSSU's flagship station, WSNC 90.5 FM in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The audio broadcast of the game will stream live on the internet at ClassicSportsRadio.com and online at WSSU.edu by clicking on the "Listen to WSNC" link on the University home page.

Donal Ware will call all the play-by-play action with Eric Curry providing the color analysis. Ware and Curry have more than 33 years of combined broadcasting experience and have covered such high profile events as Super Bowl XLIII, the 2009 NBA Finals and the 2009 MLB All-Star Game.

The broadcast will start 30 minutes prior to kickoff with the Rams' pre-game show and will conclude 30 minutes after the completion of the contest with the WSSU football post-game show.
