Winston-Salem, NC - The WSSU Office of Sports Information announced on Thursday that Canadian Football League (CFL) officials have determined that Ram senior offensive lineman Emmanuel Akah (Sr./London, England) is eligible for the upcoming CFL Draft as a non-import player.
Akah, who played three seasons of football for the Rams, hails from London, England and is therefore not considered to be an "import player" in the Canadian Football League. CFL teams are only permitted to have a maximum of 20 American-born players on each roster, which makes Akah, who is not categorized as an import, an even more valuable commodity.
Akah was selected to the 2004 All-CIAA First-Team and was a leader on a Ram offensive line that led the CIAA in rushing and saw two running backs gain 1,100 yards each, a feat that had never previously been accomplished by two rushers from the same team.
