WSSU Golfers Finish Seventh At Hurricane Fusillade Match Play Challenge

Joshua Vogler Fires A Low Of 76 On Day Two Of Competition

Feb. 20, 2006

PUPPY CREEK, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Rams' golf team opened their season with an impressive showing at the Hurricane Fusillade Match Play Golf Challenge hosted by Louisburg College as the Rams finished 7th overall with a two-day total of 708 at Bayonet Golf Club in Raeford, NC. 

 

The Rams posted a two-day combined total of 708 as they fired a 358 on day one and scored a 350 on the second, and final, day of competition as WSSU placed ahead of Hiawassee College (734).

 

WSSU was led by newcomer Joshua Vogler who turned in a two-day total of 159 (83-76=159) as he turned in WSSU's first sub-80's round of the season with a 76 on Sunday. 

 


 

 

Fayetteville State won the match-play portion of the challenge and posted a fourth-place finish overall as the Broncos and Rams were the only two CIAA teams participating in the eight-team field.

 

WSSU returns to action on Friday, February 24, 2006 as they host the WSSU Golf Invitational at Winston Lake Golf Club in Winston-Salem, NC.
