Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team shot a 394 as they finished in third place behind North Carolina Central University and Fayetteville State University on Friday afternoon at the Winston-Lake Golf Course in the CIAA's first golf event of the spring season.
The Rams finished in third position with a 394 behind North Carolina Central who fired a 340 and Fayetteville State University who recorded a 306.
WSSU was led by Brett Lindquist who shot an 66 as he was the only Ram to break 90 on the afternoon.
The Eagles of North Carolina Central were led by a pair of golfers who shot a 78 as M. Clayton and Brian Demby paced NCCU.
The Broncos of Fayetteville State University were led by J. Azzarelli who shot a match-best 74 to lead all golfers.
WSSU Head Coach Lester Carpenter was optimistic about his team's performance, recording the following comment:
"I think that we are going to be a much improved golf team this season. It is very obvious that all of our team members have worked hard in the offseason, and have dramatically improved their games."
