Despite Finishing Fourth, WSSU Golf Invitational Is A Smashing Success

Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Rams golf team made history on Thursday afternoon as they ushered in a new era of men's golf at WSSU. When the Rams teed off, they broke a seventeen-year long period of time where there was no NCAA men's golf at Winston-Salem State.

The Rams ended the day finishing behind St. Augustine's College, North Carolina Central University and Johnson C. Smith University, but walked off of the course at Winston-Lake Golf Club knowing that they represented the newest members of the WSSU Men's Golf family.

North Carolina Central University finished first in the four-team tournament with a combined score of 364. Placing second was Johnson C. Smith who turned in a score of 399. Third place went to the Falcons of St. Augustine's College who recorded a total of 417, and the Rams finished not far behind with a total of 427. Winston-Salem State returns to action March7th-9th as they travel to Oxford, NC and Bulls Creek G.C. to take on the Falcons of St. Augustine's College.
