Winston-Salem, NC - The Broncos of Fayetteville State University showed why they are considered the most talented men's golf team in the CIAA as they completed the 2005 CIAA Western Division Golf Challenge on Tuesday afternoon with a two-day total of 629 to defeat their next closest competitor by 43 strokes.
The Broncos were paced by I. Milne who shot a two-day total of 142. Milne fired a 70 on day one and a 72 on day two to earn him a first-place finish as he was 13 strokes ahead of the second-place medalist, M. Clayton of North Carolina Central who shot a 155 over the two days.
North Carolina Central University finished in second place overall as the Eagles turned in a two-day match total of 672. The Eagles were led by M. Clayton who shot an 80 on day one and a 75 on day two. For his efforts, he was the second-place medalist. He was joined by Eagle teammate B. Demby who was the fourth-place medalist as he turned in a two-day total of 160.
The Rams of Winston-Salem State finished in fifth place overall (out of nine teams) as the host-team shot an 802 overall. They were paced by Brett Lindquist who turned in a two-day total of 170.
Nine CIAA schools are participated in the event as the field included the Broncos, the Rams and Eagles as well as Saint Paul's College, Johnson C. Smith University, Elizabeth City State, Virginia Union University, Saint Augustine's College and Shaw University.
