WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team turned in a seventh place finish after final round action of the South Carolina State University Bulldog Golf Invitational at Hillcrest Golf Club in Orangeburg, S.C. following a final-round 338 on Sunday morning.
Devin Cherry led all WSSU golfers for the second straight day with a team-low round of 78 on Sunday as he shot a six over par in final day action.
Houston Baptist earned the victory as they shot a team total of 579 as they narrowly edged the Bulldogs of South Carolina State who tallied a team total of 601, only 22 strokes off the pace.
Roberto Cacho of South Carolina State earned individual medalist honors in the event as he shot a total of 142 following a one under par 70 on Sunday.
The Rams return to action on April 12-13 in Brevard, N.C. as they travel to participate in the Brevard College Golf Invitational.
