WSSU Men's Golf Places Second After Day One Of CIAA Eastern Division Challenge

April 11, 2006

PETERSBURG, VA - The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team turned in a first-round total of 308 on Sunday morning at the CIAA Eastern Division Golf Challenge as the Rams recorded three rounds in the 70's and one round in the 80's en route to a second-place finish.

 

The Rams were led by Joshua Vogler who turned in a team-low round of 71.  Joining Vogler in the 70's were Lance Holmes (78) and Brett Lindquist (75).  Ernest Timmons rounded out the scoring members of the team with a round of 84.

 

William Monk, II and Joshua Sherrill turned in rounds of 89 and 92 respectively but did not score in the match.

 


 

 

North Carolina Central University narrowly edged the Rams for the first-place finish as the Eagles turned in a four-man total of 305 to defeat WSSU by three strokes.

 

WSSU returns to the course on April 10 and 11, 2006 as the Rams compete in the two-day CIAA Eastern Division Golf Championships.
