Elizabeth City, NC - The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team continues to show improvement during the 2005 season as they turned in their best finish of the year at the Elizabeth City State University men's golf round-up at the Carolina Club in Elizabeth City, NC by placing third in a field of eight teams.
WSSU fired a 403 on the afternoon as Brett Lindquist once again led the Rams with a team-low round of 86. He was joined by Ernest Timmons who shot a 100, William Monk who recorded a 103 and Tyrell McClelland who shot a 114.
The Rams placed ahead of the host-team Vikings of Elizabeth City State University, the Tigers of Saint Paul's, the Trojans of Virginia State, and the Panthers of Virginia Union and the Bears of Shaw.
The only two teams to score better than the Rams were the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University and the Falcons of Saint Paul's College. JCSU recorded a first-place total of 322 while the Falcons finished in the runner-up slot with a team total of 361.
The Rams will return to action on April 11th and 12th, 2005 as they will compete in the 2005 CIAA Eastern Division Golf Championships at the Carolina Club in Elizabeth City, NC.
