Elizabeth City, NC - The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team closed out competition at the CIAA Eastern Division Golf Championships from the Carolina Club in Elizabeth City, NC by finishing in fourth place out of a field of 10 total teams by turning in a two-day total of 785.
WSSU fired a 390 on the afternoon as Brett Lindquist once again led the Rams with a team-low round of 85 for a two-day total of 170, which was good enough to place 11th in the tournament. He was joined by Ernest Timmons who shot a 90 for a total of 188, William Monk who recorded a 103 for a total of 204 and Spencer Harrell who shot a 112 for a two-day total of 223.
The Rams placed ahead of the host-team Vikings of Elizabeth City State University, the Tigers of Saint Paul's, the Trojans of Virginia State, the Falcons of Saint Augustine's College, the Panthers of Virginia Union and the Bears of Shaw.
The only three teams to score better than the Rams were the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University, the Eagles of North Carolina Central and the Broncos of Fayetteville State University. FSU recorded a first-place total of 642 (315+327) while the Eagles finished in the runner-up slot with a team total of 639 (323+326) and the Golden Bulls pulled into third place with a 695 (341+354).
The Rams will not return to action until April 21st22nd, 2005 when they will compete in the 2005 CIAA Golf Championships in Richmond, VA.
