Results

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL - Joshua Vogler's first-round 76 helped the Winston-Salem State University Rams golf team to a 12^th place finish at the conclusion of first-round action from the National Minority Collegiate Golf Championships in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Vogler fired a four-over 76 on the par 72, 6,801-yard course at the PGA Golf Club on Friday afternoon to lead all WSSU golfers as the Rams compete in the national event for only the third time in team history.

The first-round 76 puts Vogler in a tie for 32^nd place in individual medalist play following the first of three rounds of action.

WSSU's Jerell Fields fired a 12-over 84 on the day while Steven Mason chipped in with a first-round score of 90.

The Rams tallied a team aggregate score of 360 after day-one action and WSSU will return to action on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm as second-round action gets underway.

Texas Pan American leads the field with a two-under team total of 286.  The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's Florida A&M Rattlers are only two strokes back with a team score of 288.
