Greenwood, SC - The Winston-Salem State University Rams golf team saw their scores improve on Tuesday morning as they shot a team-total of 414, but it wasn't enough as they were dropped to a last place finish in the South Atlantic Golf Invitational at Hunter's Creek Country Club in Greenwood, SC.
The Rams, who were playing for just the second time in over 45 days were still trying to shake off the rust from a long layoff, and did just that as they improved their cumulative team score by 20 strokes over Monday's first round.
Once again the Rams were led by Brett Lindquist who recorded a team-low 92, following up his first round score of 89. Despite the fact that Lindquist lost three strokes on the second day, his teammates improved their scores overall.
Ernest Timmons improved by 15 strokes as he shot a 102 and showed the largest turnaround on the team.
The Rams finished the tournament with a two-day total of 848 which relegated them to a last-place finish versus some of the Southern Region's best collegiate golf programs.
WSSU will continue to practice as a team and will resume competition in the spring of 2005.
