Rams Take 5-0 Loss to Shaw in 2012 CIAA Men's Tennis Championship Match

PETERSBURG, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams couldn't pull off the upset as the team took a hard-fought 5-0 loss to the Shaw Bears, Saturday afternoon in the 2012 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Tennis Championship match. The Rams gave it their all, but the team could not get past the top-seeded Bears.

The Rams opened the match on a down note with three straight losses in doubles play. The Rams took the losses 8-1, 8-4, and 8-1 respectively. With the losses, the team had to score three singles win in order to secure the conference title. The wins would not come, however, as the Rams took 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2 losses in #5 and #6 singles respectively.

With the loss, the Rams finish as runners-up for the 2012 CIAA Men's Tennis Championship and will await a possible at-large bid to the 2012 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Tournament for a second straight season.
