WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State men's tennis team fell 7-0 to Longwood on Friday at the WSSU Tennis Complex. With the loss, the Rams drop to 1-20 on the season.
The Rams challenged the Lancers at the first two doubles spots, but could not capitalize to clinch the first point of the match. At No. 1, Longwood's Billy Heird and David Cardoso defeated Brian Coxton and Ian Hunter 8-4, while Andres Lazarte and Brandon Lindsley edged Maximilian Glodde and Troy Moore 8-6 at the second spot.
Longwood proved to be too much for WSSU in singles as it swept all six matches. At No. 1 Garcia de Andoain defeated Coxton in straight 6-1 sets. Lindsley put away Glodde 6-1, 6-3 at the second spot and Cardoso shutout Lindquist 6-0, 6-0.
