Lawrenceville, VA - The Winston-Salem State University Rams tennis team dropped to a CIAA worst 1-12 on the season on Saturday afternoon as they fell in defeat to the St. Paul's College Tigers by the score of 6-2 in the first match of two CIAA league tennis contests in Lawrenceville, VA.
The Rams, who have lost four straight matches and 12 of their 13 matches in 2004, had two bright spots on the afternoon as they were able to earn wins at both first and second singles.
At first singles, WSSU's Jayson Williams easily defeated SPC's Leslie Oben-Mensah by the score of 8-2 to earn the Rams one of the two points that they would score on the afternoon.
At second singles, newcomer Daniel Gary battled to an 8-6 victory over SPC's Darryl Boddie to give the Rams their final point of the match.
The Rams dropped the remaining singles and doubles matches and suffered the loss.
The Rams return to action at 2:00 pm when they battle the Tigers in the second of two matches and look for revenge.
