Durham, NC - The North Carolina Central University Eagles men's tennis team squeaked out a 5-4 win over the WSSU Rams on Tuesday afternoon at the NCCU Tennis Complex in Durham, NC as the Eagles won two of three doubles matches to secure the win.
The Rams would see the Eagles jump out to a quick 3-0 lead as NCCU would record wins at the first, second and third singles flights to pull ahead in the early-going.
WSSU would mount a challenge as they won the fourth, fifth and sixth singles flights to tie the match at 3-3, setting up an impressive doubles battle.
That battle would go in favor of the host-team Eagles as NCCU won the two of the three doubles matches en route to the win.
With the loss, the Rams fall to 4-8 overall and 4-7 in the CIAA. The two teams will return to the court at 3:00 PM to face off in the second match of the CIAA men's tennis doubleheader.
