Durham, NC - The WSSU men's tennis team looked for retribution on Tuesday afternoon as they headed into the second of two CIAA men's tennis matches versus NCCU looking to avenge a 5-4 loss from match one. Retribution is exactly what WSSU would earn as they turned the tables on the host-team Eagles en route to a 5-4 win of their own, improving to 5-8 overall in the process.
The Rams would see the Eagles jump out to a quick 2-0 lead as NCCU would record wins at the first and second singles flights to pull ahead in the early-going.
However, the Rams would see Andrew Jones earn an 8-3 win at third singles over J. Collins to cut the WSSU deficit to one point at 2-1, and provide the momentum that would ultimately guide the Rams to a win.
WSSU would record two more singles match wins at fourth and sixth singles as the two teams split the six singles matches 3-3.
WSSU would secure the win as they won two of the three doubles matches, emerging victorious at the second third doubles flights en route to the win.
With the win the Rams improve to 5-8 overall and 5-7 in the CIAA. WSSU will return to action on Monday, April 11th, 2005 at 1:00 PM as they will play host to the very same Eagles of North Carolina Central in a pair of CIAA men's tennis matches.
