PETERSBURG, VA - The Winston-Salem State Rams (17-11) advanced to the 2011 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championship round with a 5-0 win over the host Virginia State Trojans, Saturday morning. The Rams had to complete play in the match on Saturday morning after play was suspended Friday due to inclement weather.
The Rams took all three doubles points, Friday afternoon 8-2, 8-6, and 8-5 to jump ahead 3-0. The Rams' strong play continued into singles, which were played on Saturday morning. The Rams needed just two singles points to seal the win and freshman Nick John and Chris Jeter both delivered. John got things started with a 6-2, 6-1 win while Jeter sealed the win with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
