WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Winston-Salem State University head men's and women's tennis coach Charlie Schoderbek announced on Friday afternoon that the Rams' and Lady Rams' tennis matches for the weekend versus Elon and Virginia State have been postponed due to concerns about the weekend's inclement weather forecast.

The forecast for heavy rains for the weekend will likely make the WSSU Tennis Complex surface unplayable thus prompting Schoderbek's decision to reschedule the matches.

"Our primary concern was the safety of the student-athletes visiting from Elon and Virginia State and the safety of our student-athletes here at WSSU. With the cold temperatures and the heavy rains that are in the forecast we decided that in the interest of ensuring the safety for everyone involved, we would reschedule the matches" Schoderbek commented.

The WSSU men's tennis team was slated to face Elon at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 14. That match has been postponed until Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 9:00 am.

Both the Rams and Lady Rams were scheduled to face Virginia State on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 2:00 pm and those matches have been postponed as well. No make-up date has been announced at this time.

Both the WSSU men's and women's tennis teams will return to action on Monday, March 16, 2009 as they face Lafayette at the WSSU Tennis Complex. The first serve in those matches is slated for 3:00 pm, weather permitting.
