2008-09: Cornell had a solid sophomore season with the Rams...He posted one top ten finish in the indoor season when he placed 7th in the 800m run at the Liberty Kick Off...He finished the event in 2:03.55...He competed in all four indoor meets for the Rams...His best 800m time of the indoor season came at the Dick Taylor-Carolina Invitational where he finished the event in 2:00.93...In the outdoor season, Jones continued his success with a top-ten finish at the 2009 International Friendship & Freedom Games where he placed 6th in the 800m run with a 1:58.24...His best 800m time of the season came at the 2009 Chick 0fil-A UNC Elite where he posted a 1:57.70.

2007-08: Cornell had a strong freshman season with the Rams as a Rams' primary 800m runner...He posted a season-best indoor time at the Virginia Tech Challenge where he finished 38th with a 2:01.50...In the outdoor season, he posted a season-best time of 1:59.57 at the Wake Forest Open.

Personal: Cornell Jones returns to the Winston-Salem State track & field team for the second season in 2008-09...A native of Manassas, VA where he is a graduate of Osborn High School...Earned numerous athletic honors in high school, including being named team MVP for track & field both as a junior and as a senior...Was also a member of the Eagles' 14-0 Division 6-AAA State Championship football team...A Mass Communications major...The son of Theodore Jones, Sr. and Zella Jones...His father was an All-American in the 400m at James Madison University...Born on April 20, 1989.
