2007-08: James had a solid sophomore season competing in the 400m dash during the indoor season and competing in the 400m hurdles and long jumps during the outdoor season...His best effort of the indoor season came at the Liberty Fast Times where he finished second in the men's 500m dash and eighth in the long jump...He posted a 1:09.33 in the 500m Dash and an indoor season-best 16'8.5" (5.09m) in the long jump...He competed just once in the 400m hurdles in the outdoor season with a 30th place finish in the 400m hurdles at the Wake Forest Open...He finished the event with a 59.41...His best long jump of the season came at the Duke Asics Invitational where he finished 13th with a 20'4.25" (6.20m).
Personal: The 2009-10 season will mark Legins' third year as a member of the WSSU men's track and field team where he will compete in the jumps and sprints events. A native of Westerville, Ohio, he is a 2006 graduate of Westerville North High School where he was voted his team's MVP en route to national qualifying honors and a scholar-athlete award. The son of James and Alicia Legins. A Sport Management major at WSSU. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 26, 1988. Nicknamed "JL".
